How an Executive Search and Talent Acquisition Practice Became a Strategic HR Advisory Firm

Company History


The Aldrich Group, a consortium of independent corporate advisors and consulting professionals,  has its roots in the American Technologies Group, a holding company spin-off of The American Can Company formed in the mid 1980s. 

 

At the spin-off, Jeff Aldrich was recruited by the  company's new owners - former clients at American Can - to form a consulting company providing  talent acquisition and organizational development for American Tech's operating companies in industrial automation and digital printing. At the same time, American Tech commissioned Jeff  and to run a profit center, The American Tech Recruiting Group, to  provide services to  American Tech clients in the pharmaceutical, aerospace, automotive, industrial products, consumer products, food, beverage, hardware, software, and graphics industries and the financial services companies that funded them. 

 

The Recruiting Group's close relationship with its American Tech parent heightened the Recruiting Group's sense of responsibility  for assuring that the talented people  brought to the parent-client were successful 

and the experience sewed the seeds for a more comprehensive practice overall supporting change management, org. development, executive coaching, and HR services.  The challenges of change at American Tech itself were constant. The  recruiting and emerging OD and HR services practice grew in pace with the parent company during periods of rapid organic growth, mergers, divestiture, and reorganization until the American Technologies holding company itself was sold to a British company.  The Aldrich Group then launched as an independent entity - same people, practice,  and clientele,  but under a new name, serving the same needs but  for clients at-large.
