Jeff Barker

Transformational Business Advisory and Philanthropic Strategy

Jeff’s has enjoyed a long and successful career delivering  strategically significant transformational plans and services to clients spanning retail, financial services, and philanthropic enterprises.

 

For over 20 years, Jeff served as the New York State President of Bank of America, a position he held concurrently at BofA with positions as Consumer Bank Executive and National Metro Segment Executive. 

 

While fulfilling theses executive roles, Jeff and his team actively deployed Bank of America’s resources to address civic, social, and economic concerns and build strong communities by fostering sustainable relationships with political and community leaders to support Bank of America’s philanthropic work in community and civic affairs.

 

Jeff represented Bank of America on the board of the New York Bankers’ Association for over 25 years and served as its’ Chairman in 2018.  He also sat on the board of the Business Council of New York State, the New York City Police Foundation, and Derek Jeter’s Turn2 Foundation.  He is currently on the Leadership Council of Roundabout Theatre Company following 13 years of serving on Roundabout’s board where he co-chaired the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. He also serves on the Corporate Council of the Whitney Museum of American Art.

 

 In 2024, the New York Yankee Foundation honored him with their Community Service Award acknowledging Jeff’s 20 years of service to the Foundation.  City and State Magazine honored Jeff in 2020 and 2021 as a Responsible 100, granted to those who have made a difference in communities in New York State.  

 

Jeff has been a bi-annual guest lecturer at Columbia Business School for 20 years and currently is an Executive in Residence at the SUNY Stony Brook Business School.  He also serves as a Board Advisor to Conductiv Co and as a consultant with BRV Redevelopment Ventures.

 

As Segment Executive for Bank of America’s Metro Markets, Jeff worked with fellow Market Presidents and their teams in 33 cities throughout the country. There he fostered business integration, led local corporate reputation enhancement, oversaw employee engagement, and executed local philanthropic and sponsorship activities.   Approximately $60 Million of valuable community support was delivered annually by Jeff and his team in the Metro markets.  

 

As Bank of America’s New York consumer executive Jeff was responsible for the 500 consumer banking branches in the New York Tri-State area.   Working with a team of 14 District Managers and 4,500 bankers, his market, with $165 Billion in deposits, was the equivalent of the 20th largest bank in the county.   He spearheaded the growth of Bank of America’s footprint in New York City, which grew from 40 branches to over 125 in just a few years.

 

Jeff was recruited to BofA after a successful career at Barnes and Noble.   He began at Barnes and Noble when the book “superstore” concept was a test in three cities.  His team of 10 District Managers opened and managed 140 stores in 17 states in the Eastern United States.          

 

Jeff holds a BA from Cornell University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
